About Belfast Zoo
Belfast Zoo opened in 1934 and is owned and operated by Belfast City Council.
Conservation
Our 55 acre site is home to 116 species, the majority of which are facing increasing danger in their natural habitats.
They carry out vital conservation work, both in Northern Ireland and around the world. They take part in global and collaborative breeding programmes, which help to ensure the survival of many species under threat.
